Nerves are an essential part of the nervous system. They can be categorized as follows:

1. Afferent nerves: Conduct sensory information from sensory neurons to the central nervous system.
2. Efferent nerves: Conduct signals from motor neurons in the central nervous system to muscles.
3. Motor neurons: Transmit signals from the brain and spinal cord to muscles.
